Delete your account

This page explains how to delete your ZI² Books account and data, whether you use the ZI² Books app on iPhone, iPad, Android or Mac, or the website at e.zi2.app. The service is run by the operator of ZI² Books, reachable at [email protected].

In the app

  1. Open the app and go to Account, the person icon on the library screen.
  2. Tap Delete account.
  3. Confirm. Your account is erased at once and the app clears this device.

On the web, without the app

  1. Go to your data page and enter the email address you bought or signed in with.
  2. Open the private link that arrives by email. It works for two days.
  3. Review what is held, download a copy if you want one, and choose Erase my personal data.

By email

Write to [email protected] from the address on the account and ask for deletion. It is done within thirty days, and you get a confirmation.

What is deleted

  • Your reader account and the sign-in it allows, on every device.
  • Your shelves, reading positions, reader settings and notes.
  • Your reviews and the messages you sent to publishers.
  • Your newsletter subscription and any marketing emails waiting to be sent.
  • One-time sign-in links, the record of emails sent to you, and the customer notes and tags publishers or staff kept about you.
  • Your email address on every order, including gifts you received.

What is kept, and why

  • Purchase records, without your email. Each order's date, amount, edition and license number stay, because tax and accounting law requires sales records. They are no longer linked to you.
  • Your address on the do-not-email list, so that nothing is ever sent to it again by mistake.
  • Security records, such as the time and network address of past sign-ins, kept as long as needed to investigate abuse and meet legal duties, and never used to contact you.
  • Data held by others. Stripe keeps the payment record under its own policy, and a publisher may keep the sale notice it already received under its agreement with us.

Books you downloaded stay on your own devices until you remove them. Deleting the app alone does not delete your account.

Publisher accounts

To close a publisher account, write to [email protected]. The storefront closes and, as the Publisher Agreement describes, you can export your files and records for sixty days before the account is removed.
